Hello In Stitches Family! As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month so in October, we wear pink – hopefully. More on that later.
Because you can find anything on the internet, here’s a little bit of history on Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Breast Cancer Awareness month started in 1985 with former first lady Betty Ford as spokesperson. She was herself a breast cancer survivor so she wanted to encourage others to get screened.
Pink has come to be known as the color for the breast cancer awareness movement but that didn’t become as widely known until 1992 with Estee Lauder. That year they handed out 1.5 million ribbons.
Now the NFL is one of the biggest supporters of Breast Cancer Awareness month with nearly all players, coaches and referees wearing pink in October.
So why are we talking about October at the end of August? Unfortunately we have to talk about supply chain issues again. Colors and sizes of different styles of t-shirts are hard to come by. So if you want to have a fundraiser, think web store, we would recommend doing it now while we have these colors in stock.
Take a look at the colors and styles we have right now.
So show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness month by ordering your pink shirts today.
