Hello In Stitches Family! With the Fourth of July right around the corner, we’re feeling a bit patriotic in our house. You see Mike, one of our owners, served in the Air Force for 21-½ years. We thought it would be great to get to know a little bit more about his service.
Our blog writer, Ashley (Hi), asked Mike some questions about his time in the Air Force. After all, one of the reasons we started In Stitches was to provide quality patches to those in uniform!
Here are his answers.
Why did you join the Air Force and not another branch of the military?
I wanted to be involved in some career in aviation. (You can definitely tell he loves planes because one of his hobbies is flying RC Planes!)
What did you want to do when you joined?
Air Traffic Controller
What did you end up doing?
Flight Scheduling and Air Crew Training Management
What was your favorite part of the Air Force?
Working with the Air Crews
How long were you in the Air Force?
21 ½ years
Where were you stationed at?
In order:
Lackland, Texas
Kessler, Alabama
Ellsworth, South Dakota
Kunsan, Korea
Ellsworth, South Dakota
Dyess, Texas
Do you have any interesting stories from your time in the air force?
I got incentive flights on every air frame I worked on. Including a B-52, KC135, F-16, HH-1 and B-1. (Ashley’s husband who grew up in the Air Force is REALLY jealous about this!)
Anything else you’d like to share?
I loved the structure and integrity and I still carry those values today.
Mike, from all of us in the In Stitches family, we wanted to thank you for your service!
Happy Fourth of July and God bless America!
